Imagine having a direct line for sending your hopes and dreams for the United States of America to President Obama. Bellingham artist, Chris Moench, along with the City's Martin Luther King Committee, and State Representative Rick Larsen, have made that possible. Enter the "Presidential Prayer Wheel Project."The idea behind the prayer wheel project is simple: Gather the prayers, best wishes, thoughts, hopes, and dreams of the citizens of this community, place them in a prayer wheel, and deliver them to the White House shortly after President Obama takes office.Moench, who has created prayer wheels for His Holiness the Dalai Lama among others, sculpted a unique prayer wheel for this occasion. Titled "Seeds of Hope" the two-foot tall, barrel-shaped ceramic vessel is bolted to an iron turntable that spins with the push of a hand. Revolving images carved into the wheel tell a story. Moench describes the Presidential Prayer Wheel story as "a journey of restoration."HOW TO PARTICIPATE & ADD YOUR PRAYERS, HOPES, MESSAGE:In order to accommodate the many individuals who would like to send a message to the new president you can add yours online (see #1); mail it in (see #2); or visit the Presidential Prayer Wheel in person at a public location (see #3). 1.
