From Tom Anderson, former General Manager of Whatcom PUD District #1.
As you may expect I have a strong opinion about public power options and concerns about the PSE take over by foreign investors. I have kept a low profile on the issue this summer to let the politics in Skagit, Island and Jefferson Counties develop. All three of those counties have placed a measure on their November ballot to either give their existing PUD’s electric authority or in the case of Island County to create a new PUD.
Whatcom PUD already has electric authority and has taken the step of hiring a consultant to study the options for acquisition of some or all of the local PSE facilities. I believe it is time to get the word out so that more citizens in the community can add their comments to the debate and have input to the PUD Commissioners’. To that end I have reserved the lecture room at the main Bellingham Library for a meeting, see the announcement below.
Please feel free to call or email me if you have any questions.
Concerned about PSE’s Credit Rating?
Concerned about the Proposal for Foreign Ownership?
Concerned about the State of Local Renewable Electric Development?
