Saturday, May 12 – Mother’s Day for Peace Celebration. Meet at the Bellingham Farmer’s Market (at the goat) at 1:00 for a group reading of Julia Ward Howe’s “Mother’s Day for Peace” proclamation from 1870 (“… Our sons shall not be taken from us to unlearn all that we have been able to teach them of charity, mercy and patience.…”). The declaration is followed by a Mother’s Walk for Peace through downtown where mothers and descendants of mothers will proudly carry peace signs and banners to the YWCA Ballroom for refreshments and a free Peace music concert by Sharon Abreu and Michael Hurwicz www.Irthlingz.com
